How Much Does a Misting System Cost in Australia?

A high-pressure misting system in Australia costs anywhere from around $660 for a small DIY pump kit to $6,500 and up for a commercial system. Most homes land somewhere in between. On our online shop, DIY kits for small patios start at $660, kits for typical family patios sit between about $860 and $1,990, and our larger MistPro residential kits range from $2,490 to $3,690. Commercial pumps start at $4,990.

Those are wide bands, because a misting system isn't one product. It's a pump, a length of misting line and a set of nozzles, sized to your space. Here's how the price comes together, so you know what you're paying for.

Price Bands by System Size

These figures are from our online shop at the time of writing.

System What it suits (0.15mm Nozzles) Price
EasyMist-25 and EasyMist-50 Small courtyards and patios, up to 12 nozzles $660 to $860
EcoMist-25 and EcoMist-50 Small to medium patios, 1,000 psi, up to 12 nozzles $990 to $1,190
EcoMist-50i Medium patios with multiple cooling zones, up to 16 nozzles $1,790 to $1,990
MistPro-100 to MistPro-300 Large homes, pool areas and smaller commercial spaces, up to 75 nozzles $2,490 to $3,690
MistPro-400 to MistPro-700 Cafés, pubs, resorts and larger commercial sites $4,990 to $6,490

Nozzle numbers above are based on our standard 0.15mm nozzle, which suits most homes with standard ceiling and patio heights. We also supply 0.1mm and 0.2mm nozzles, and we’re happy to swap these into your kit to suit your site. The 0.1mm nozzle produces a finer mist, which suits lower mounting heights, misting fans and areas close to tables or seating. Because it uses less water, your pump can run more of them. The 0.2mm nozzle produces more mist, which suits higher mounting points such as tall pergolas. Because it uses more water, your pump runs fewer of them.

Where a price shows as a range, the difference usually comes down to the type of misting line, nylon or stainless steel. Anything over 52 metres of line is quoted as a custom system.

What Drives the Price

The pump

The pump is the heart of the system and the biggest part of the cost. Price goes up with capacity: how many litres per minute it can push and how many nozzles it can run. A small pump running 6 nozzles at 0.25 L per minute costs far less than a commercial pump running 110 nozzles at 4 L per minute.

Features add to the price too. Moving up the range gets you things like triple-piston pumps, app control, built-in maintenance reminders and inverter technology that lets you run separate cooling zones.

The misting line

Nylon line is the more affordable option and works well where it's hidden from view. Stainless steel costs a little more but looks the part when it's on show along a pergola or roof edge. The longer your line, the more it costs, which is why measuring your space first matters.

Fans

Misting fans are an add-on rather than a replacement for a pump, because they run off the same high-pressure system. Our heavy-duty misting fan is $749, and our stainless-steel industrial fans are $1,590 for the 450 mm MTC-450 and $1,990 for the 600 mm MTC-600. Fans are well worth it in humid climates and large open areas.

Filtration and extras

A 4-stage water filter ($629) is a smart buy if your water is hard or comes from a tank or bore, because it protects the nozzles and the pump. A wall-mounted pump cover ($490) keeps the pump tidy and out of the weather. Replacement nozzles are $9.90 each.

DIY Kit

Our kits are designed for DIY installation. They include all the parts you need, even the pump oil, along with installation instructions, and we share an installation video to help you through it. Most standard residential setups go in within a few hours using quick-connect fittings.

Are Misting Systems Expensive to Install?

Compared with other ways of cooling an outdoor space, not really. You can't air-condition an open patio, and a misting system cools it at a fraction of the cost of running an air conditioner. It uses a small electric pump and very little water. Even our largest commercial pump uses about 7 litres a minute at full capacity, and our smallest uses a quarter of a litre.

The bigger risk is spending money on the wrong system. A cheap low-pressure mister from the hardware shop might cost less at the counter, but it runs at household water pressure and produces bigger droplets that tend to leave things wet. If you end up replacing it, you've paid twice.

What It Costs to Run

Running costs are low. Water use is the main one, and it's small: our entry-level pumps use around 15 litres an hour at full capacity, while a garden hose can use 600 to 900 litres an hour. Most pumps also run on timed cycles rather than continuously, so the real figure is usually lower.

Maintenance is the other running cost. Plan on replacing filter cartridges every 6 to 12 months, clearing nozzles if your water is hard, and a yearly check of the pump and pressure.

How to Get an Accurate Price

The quickest way to get a real figure is to measure the length of the area you want to cool and tell us:

  • where the line will be mounted (fence, pergola, gutter or roof edge)
  • whether you'd like nylon or stainless steel line
  • whether you'll install it yourself or use a local plumber
  • whether the area is humid or windy

With that, we can recommend the right pump and give you a price you can plan around. You can browse the full shop, read more about our misting systems or see our installation advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a misting system cost?

On our online shop, DIY high-pressure misting kits start at $660 for small spaces. Most home patios fall between about $860 and $3,690 depending on size and line type. Commercial pumps start at $4,990, and large or custom systems are quoted individually.

What does a patio misting system cost in Australia?

For a typical family patio, expect roughly $860 to $1,990 for a DIY high-pressure kit, or more for large entertaining areas that need a MistPro pump. Add a misting fan if you're in a humid area. As we supply kits only, allow for installation costs by a local plumber if you’d rather not do it yourself.

Are misting systems expensive to install?

A DIY kit can be installed in a few hours with quick-connect fittings, so there's no installation cost if you do it yourself. As we’re a supply-only business, professional installation would be through a local plumber, and their labour cost will depend on the size and complexity of the job.

How much do misting systems cost to run?

Very little. Water use ranges from about 0.25 L to 7 L per minute at full capacity, depending on the pump, and pumps usually run on timed cycles. The main ongoing costs are filter cartridges and occasional nozzle cleaning.
