Industrial Misting FansTargeted Mist Cooling for Industrial EnvironmentsIndustrial environments can be difficult to keep comfortable during hot conditions, particularly in factories, workshops, warehouses and large open or semi-open work areas. Industrial misting fans work with a high-pressure pump to combine airflow with ultra-fine mist, providing targeted mist cooling where it is needed. Fans can be positioned to direct airflow and mist towards specific work areas or larger occupied spaces, depending on the cooling requirement. Every industrial site is different. The right solution depends on the area being cooled, site conditions, available mounting locations, fan positioning and overall system configuration. |

Industrial misting fans are suited to large, open and semi-open environments where conventional air conditioning may be impractical or where cooling is only needed in specific occupied areas.
Rather than trying to cool an entire building, an industrial misting system can be configured to direct airflow and ultra-fine mist towards workstations, production areas, loading zones and other heat-affected spaces.
Mistech's high pressure misting systems use evaporative cooling to lower the surrounding air temperature. Depending on temperature, humidity and site conditions, high-pressure misting can reduce temperatures by up to 10°C.

Warehouse CoolingWarehouses can be particularly difficult to keep cool because of their large floor areas, high ceilings, open roller doors and constant movement of people, vehicles and stock. Industrial misting fans provide targeted warehouse cooling without necessarily needing to condition the entire building. Fans can be positioned around picking and packing areas, loading zones, dispatch areas or other regularly occupied parts of the warehouse. For larger spaces, multiple fans can be connected to a suitably sized misting pump, creating an industrial misting system designed around the layout and cooling requirements of the site. | Factory CoolingMachinery, production processes and limited airflow can make factory environments particularly hot during warmer weather. A factory cooling system using industrial misting fans can help introduce additional airflow and evaporative cooling around production lines, workstations and other heat-affected areas. Because the cooling can be directed towards specific zones, it can be particularly useful in large factories where cooling the entire internal volume may not be practical. The right setup will depend on the factory layout, heat sources, ventilation and the number of areas that need cooling. |
Stables & Livestock AreasMisting fans may also be used in suitable covered animal areas to provide additional airflow and evaporative cooling during hot conditions. For systems specifically designed around cattle, livestock and animal heat management, visit our cattle cooling page. |

Heat in a warehouse, factory or workshop is more than a comfort issue. Safe Work Australia identifies working in heat as a workplace hazard and advises businesses to identify heat hazards, assess the risks and introduce suitable controls where required.
Depending on the workplace, controls may include isolating workers from heat sources, improving ventilation, increasing air movement with fans, using air conditioning or evaporative cooling, providing access to cool drinking water and rest areas, and scheduling physically demanding work for cooler times of the day.
An industrial misting fan may form part of a broader approach to managing heat by increasing airflow and providing localised evaporative cooling in occupied areas. It should be considered alongside the other controls appropriate to your workplace and WHS obligations.
Mist can be used for both cooling and dust control, but the system design is not necessarily the same.
For cooling, an industrial misting system produces an ultra-fine mist designed to evaporate into the surrounding air. Combined with fan airflow, this evaporation removes heat and creates a cooling effect around the targeted area.
Dust suppression instead relies on water droplets interacting with airborne dust so particles become heavier and are more likely to settle. The nozzle selection, droplet size, water volume and positioning may therefore differ from a system designed primarily for cooling.
In some smaller industrial applications, mist cooling may also assist with localised airborne dust. Where dust suppression is the main objective, however, the system should be designed specifically around the type and source of dust being controlled.
Every industrial application is different. Talk to Mistech Cooling about your site, the areas you need to cool and what you're trying to achieve. We can help determine a suitable misting fan and high-pressure system configuration for your application.
Mistech's MTC Series is available in two wall-mounted sizes: the 450mm (MTC-450) and the larger 600mm (MTC-600). Both models are made from stainless steel, have an IP54 rating, include adjustable positioning and oscillation, and are designed to work as part of a high-pressure misting system.

The MTC-450 is a good fit when cooling needs to be directed towards a specific workstation or smaller area. The larger MTC-600 is designed for bigger spaces or higher mounting points, where broader airflow and cooling coverage are needed.
The right option will depend on the size and layout of your space, where people are working and how much of the area needs to be cooled. In larger sites, you may also need more than one fan to create consistent coverage.
Choosing an industrial misting system involves more than selecting a fan. The size, height and layout of the building can all influence the number of fans required, where they should be positioned and the pump capacity needed to operate the system.
Floor AreaStart with the approximate length and width of the area you want to cool. This does not always mean the entire building. In a large warehouse or factory, it may be more effective to identify the occupied areas where cooling will provide the greatest benefit. | Ceiling HeightHigh ceilings increase the volume of air within an industrial building. Fan mounting height and direction therefore need to be considered carefully so that airflow and mist reach the area where people are actually working. |
Open vs Enclosed AreasAn open-sided shed, loading bay or warehouse with frequently opened roller doors behaves differently from a more enclosed factory. You may need to consider a misting fan and line combination for maximum cooling effect. Air movement through open buildings can affect where mist travels and how quickly it evaporates, while more enclosed spaces require careful consideration of ventilation and humidity. The system should be configured around the actual conditions of the site. | Fan Quantity & PositionThe number of fans required depends on the size and shape of the cooling zone, obstructions within the space and how the area is used. Strategic positioning can allow several fans to cool occupied zones without unnecessarily directing mist towards unused areas. |
Pump CapacityEach misting fan needs to be connected to a high-pressure pump capable of supplying the required number of nozzles. As the number of fans increases, the pump and overall system configuration need to be sized accordingly. An industrial misting fan combines strong airflow with a fine mist of water. As the mist evaporates, it helps remove heat from the surrounding air, while the fan spreads the cooler air across the area that needs it most.
The amount of cooling will depend on the temperature, humidity, airflow and the way the system is set up. In the right conditions, Mistech Cooling's high-pressure misting systems can reduce surrounding temperatures by up to 10°C.
Yes, misting fans can work well in many open, semi-open and well-ventilated warehouses. The layout, airflow, humidity and areas you want to cool will all help determine the most suitable setup.
It depends on the space. Floor area, ceiling height, ventilation, heat sources and the locations that need the most cooling can all affect how many fans are required. Mistech Cooling can help assess your site and recommend a suitable configuration.
The MTC-450 is a 450mm industrial misting fan that works well for targeted cooling around workstations and smaller industrial areas. The larger MTC-600 is a 600mm industrial misting fan designed for spaces where greater airflow and wider cooling coverage are needed.
Yes. Industrial misting fans are designed to work as part of a high-pressure misting system. The pump supplies pressurised water to the misting nozzles, with the right pump size depending on the number of fans and nozzles in the system.
In some cases, yes, but the two applications work differently. Cooling uses very fine mist that evaporates into the air, while dust suppression may need different droplet sizes, water flow and nozzle positioning. The system should be designed around what you mainly want it to achieve.
