How does a high-pressure misting system cool the air?
Our pumps push filtered water through specially engineered nozzles at around 1000 psi. This turns the water into ultra-fine droplets as small as 8–10 microns. The droplets evaporate almost instantly, and that evaporation draws heat out of the surrounding air.
How much cooler will it feel?
A high-pressure misting system can lower the surrounding temperature by up to 10°C. Results depend on the weather, humidity, airflow and how the system is set up. Misting works best in hot, dry conditions.
Will I get wet?
No. Because the droplets are so fine, they stay suspended in the air long enough to evaporate before they settle. You get the cooling effect without damp skin, clothes or furniture.
What's the difference between high-pressure and low-pressure misting?
Low-pressure garden hose kits produce larger droplets that often fall and leave surfaces wet. High-pressure systems create a much finer mist that evaporates faster, giving you better cooling with less water.
Does it work in humid weather?
Misting still helps in humid conditions, but the temperature drop is smaller because the air can't absorb as much moisture. Pairing misting with a fan, such as one of our misting fans, improves airflow and cooling in humid areas.
What is flash evaporation?
Flash evaporation is when water droplets are so small they evaporate almost the moment they leave the nozzle. Our 8–10 micron droplets flash-evaporate in the air, absorbing heat as they go, which is why you feel cooler without getting wet.
Is a misting system better than an evaporative cooler outdoors?
An evaporative cooler is a box unit that blows air through a wet pad. It works best in a shed, garage or partly enclosed area, where the cooled air can’t drift away. Outdoors, that cool air quickly blows off. A high-pressure misting system or misting fan cools the air right where people are sitting, covers larger open areas and uses less water.
Where can I use a misting system?
Our systems suit patios, decks, alfresco dining areas, pools and gardens (mistscaping). They're also used in childcare centres, cafes and restaurants, event spaces, sports grounds, industrial and construction sites, greenhouses, livestock areas and public parks.
Should I choose misting lines or a misting fan?
Misting lines run along a roofline, pergola or fence and suit fixed outdoor areas. Misting fans combine mist with strong airflow, so they cool larger or more open spaces and work well where there's little natural breeze. We offer residential, commercial and industrial misting fans, plus our LuxMist ceiling misting fans.
What's the best way to keep my patio cool in summer?
Shade and airflow help, but a high-pressure misting system is one of the most effective ways to cool an outdoor patio, dropping the temperature by up to 10°C without wetting your furniture. For covered patios and pergolas, a misting line along the roofline works well. For open areas or spots with little breeze, a misting fan adds airflow to spread the cooling further.
What's the best outdoor cooling for extreme heat?
In very hot, dry weather, high-pressure misting is at its most effective, because hot dry air absorbs the fine mist quickly. For large or exposed areas such as sports grounds, work sites or event spaces, our commercial and industrial misting fans combine mist with strong airflow to cool more people at once.
How do I know what size pump I need?
Pump size depends on how many nozzles you'll run, which depends on the size of your area. Email your photos and measurements to mail@mistechcooling.com.au or call us on 07 4946 4702, and we'll recommend the right pump and nozzle layout in a tailored quote.
Are your systems suitable for childcare centres?
Yes. Our high-pressure mist doesn't leave children or play equipment wet, which makes it a popular choice for keeping outdoor play areas comfortable on hot days.
Can misting systems be used for restaurants and cafes?
Yes. Misting is a popular way to keep alfresco dining areas comfortable through summer, so customers stay longer outside. Because the mist evaporates before it settles, tables, menus and guests stay dry.
Will a misting system keep mosquitoes and bugs away?
Many customers find misting helps keep flies and mosquitoes at bay, as small flying insects tend to avoid the moving air and fine mist. Our systems are designed for cooling first, so think of this as a handy bonus rather than pest control.
Do you install misting systems?
We're a supply-only business - we don't install, commission or service systems. Our systems are designed to be DIY-friendly with quick-connect fittings. You're responsible for arranging installation, including any licensed plumbing or electrical work, council or water authority approvals, and backflow prevention where required.
Can I install the system myself?
Yes. Our systems use quick-connect fittings and UV-resistant tubing, so most handy homeowners can set them up with basic tools. You'll need a mains water tap and a power point near the pump. See our Installation Guide for step-by-step tips and a video.
How do I install a high-pressure misting system?
Most installs follow the same basic steps:
Each pump must run within its minimum and maximum nozzle limits, so check with us before adding or changing nozzles.
What do I need to run the pump?
A standard 240V power point and a mains water supply.
Can I use tank or bore water?
Please tell us before you order if you'll be using tank, bore or any non-mains water, so we can recommend the right filtration. Hard or poor-quality water can cause scale and corrosion, which isn't covered as a product fault.
How do I maintain my misting system?
Keep it running well with a few simple checks:
What should I do in winter?
If you won't be using the system for a while, drain the water from the lines. In frost-prone areas, make sure the pump and lines are protected from freezing. When you're ready to use it again, flush the system with fresh water before running it around people, to clear out any stale water or debris.
What if a nozzle gets blocked?
Blocked nozzles are usually caused by minerals in hard water. Soak the nozzle in white vinegar or a descaler, then rinse and refit it. Replacement nozzles are available from our shop.

Can I cancel or change my order?
Once your order is accepted, changes or cancellations need our written agreement. Special or custom-configured orders can't be cancelled once they've been ordered from our supplier, and dispatched orders can't be cancelled for change of mind.
How much water does it use?
Very little, which makes misting one of the most eco-friendly ways to cool outdoors. A system's water use is set by its pump, so even running at full capacity it never uses more than the pump's rated flow. For example, our Mist Pro 100 is a 1 litre-per-minute pump: running 25 × 0.15 mm nozzles, it uses about 1 litre per minute, or around 60 litres an hour. To put that in perspective, a full hour of misting uses about the same water as:
An evaporative air conditioner can use around 100 litres an hour in hot weather.
Is it expensive to run?
No. Our pumps are designed to be water and energy efficient, making misting one of the most affordable ways to cool an outdoor space.
What warranty do your products come with?
All Mistech Cooling products come with a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase or delivery, whichever is later. It covers manufacturing defects and products that don't perform to their published specifications under normal use. Wear items such as nozzles, filters, O-rings and seals aren't covered unless faulty on delivery. See our full Warranty Policy for details and how to make a claim.
